Instructions

  1. Measure the batter and filling

Measure 200 g flour, 60 g powdered sugar, 0.5 tsp baking powder, 1 pinch salt, 240 ml water and 2 tbsp oil. Keep 100 ml honey and 50 g ready-to-eat roasted peanuts separate for filling. The base yield is approximately 5 sandwiches, not 10 guaranteed sandwiches.

Batter and filling are measured separately.

  2. Whisk until smooth without tasting

Sift flour, powdered sugar, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Gradually whisk in cold water and the measured oil for about 4 minutes until smooth and pourable. Do not taste raw flour batter.

Batter is smooth and pourable without dry lumps.

    Batter whisking check: 240 seconds

  3. Bake all batter in a thin-wafer iron

Preheat a thin-wafer or pizzelle iron according to its manufacturer. Use a suitable small ladle; 2 tbsp is only a guide if appropriate for that iron. Bake each wafer, checking from about 1.5–2 minutes, until fully cooked and crisp. Repeat with all batter, without overfilling or forcing a fixed sheet count.

Each wafer is fully cooked; no raw batter remains inside.

    Check each wafer: 120 seconds

  4. Cool wafers and prepare the filling

Cool cooked wafers on a rack until crisp, keeping them separate from raw batter and utensils. Warm the measured honey only slightly if needed to spread it; use the 50 g ready-to-eat roasted peanuts without an extra roasting stage.

Wafers are cool and crisp; filling is ready to divide.

  5. Pair and fill the actual wafer yield

Pair the actual fully cooked sheets. Divide all 100 ml honey and 50 g peanuts evenly among the pairs and press gently to sandwich. About 10 sheets give about 5 sandwiches, but iron size and batter spreading change the count; do not discard unexplained batter.

All batter is baked and filling is divided over actual pairs.

  6. Store cool and dry

The catalogue uses about 5 sandwiches for the base and 20 for fourfold ingredients, not a kitchen-tested exact count. Once completely cool, store airtight at room temperature away from heat and moisture for up to 2 days. Do not apply this dry storage rule to added dairy fillings.

Sandwiches are fully cool and stored dry.

Storage

Once fully cool, store airtight at room temperature away from heat and moisture for up to 2 days. This does not cover perishable added fillings.

Reheating

Serve crisp at room temperature; avoid repeated warming that softens the filling and wafers.
