Updated 10 October 2026. Recipe Passport is a free, privately operated hobby project, not a registered company. Accounts, cloud uploads, submissions, analytics and live advertising remain disabled.

Local data and essential storage
Browsing and cooking require no account. Favorites, language, groceries, meal plans, collections, cooking completion and private recipes are stored on your device/browser under recipe-passport:v1 to provide features you choose to use, not for advertising. Private recipes and locally selected photos are not uploaded to our server. Data remains until you remove it or clear site/app storage; this can permanently delete saved content. Changing device/browser does not transfer it. No cloud backup or full in-app reset/export tool is provided.
Hosting, email and retention
STRATO hosts the website and contact mailbox. Website requests disclose connection information such as IP address, requested URL and browser/network metadata to the hosting service; security logs may be processed. Email you send contains your address, message and any chosen attachments. We use this information to operate and secure the site, answer requests and handle rights/safety concerns, relying on legitimate interests where applicable and legal obligations where required. Do not send passwords or sensitive information. Email is retained only as needed for the request and applicable legal duties. Exact hosting-log retention and contractual processing/transfer safeguards require owner confirmation before advertising activation; no fixed retention period is asserted here.
Planned Google advertising — currently disabled
On the HTTPS production website, we load Google's AdSense bootstrap with ad requests paused, solely to deploy the published certified consent message. This contacts Google and can disclose IP address, browser/device information and the page URL; existing Google-domain cookies may be read. Google documents that pausing prevents new cookies from its advertising tag and prevents use of existing-cookie data for ad serving/measurement. The separate consent service records your choices using its own consent storage. Its message provides the actual partners and purposes and controls consent for optional processing. Google may process information internationally under its applicable safeguards; see the Google links below. No ad slots or analytics tags are loaded, and ads stay paused even after acceptance. Rejecting, closing, unavailable/blocked consent services and withdrawal do not enable ads. Privacy and cookie settings reopens the message where the European consent API is available; withdrawing blocks our consent prerequisite immediately until a fresh choice. Recipes remain free and usable without accepting. Native apps and preview hosts do not load this web consent integration. Before activating advertising, the owner must confirm processor/transfer safeguards, consent-service retention and the actual deployed consent configuration. This bridge is not a replacement for Google's certified CMP or a complete ad-permission validator.
Donations and external links
Donations do not unlock features. Configured PayPal links open PayPal's website; a configured Swish number is displayed for voluntary use. We do not collect payment credentials or process payments inside Recipe Passport. External services handle information you send under their own policies.
Your rights and complaints
Contact privacy@therecipepassport.com for access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection or portability where applicable. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier consent-based processing. Proportionate identity verification may be necessary; do not send identity documents unless requested through a suitable process. The owner cannot access data held only in your browser. You can complain to Sweden's Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY). We will update this notice before enabling accounts, public uploads, cloud sync, feedback collection or analytics.
